[0:00:00] and this meeting will be officially called to order as usual we allow for public comment so issues or concerns not on the regular agenda may be raised by the public at this time citizens should speak from the podium address all comments to the Das Begin by stating their name and address or single member district number and limit their remarks to less than three minutes this is a special meeting it is a special agenda and I will start with special agenda item 8 a consider a resolution cising the returns and declaring the results of the general election held on May 4th 20204 the city held their general elections Saturday May 4th 2024 a Texas uniform election date early voting was conducted weekdays between April 22nd and April 30th in accordance with the Texas election code there was one position on the ballot which was the police chief the vote totals were as follow follows for the three candidates Travis Griffith received 3,088 total votes or 46.5 1% Mike Hernandez received 3,286 total votes or 49.5% Christ Christopher Simo received 98 total votes or 3.99% the city council officially findes determines and declares the results of the general election that no candidate received a majority of the votes cast for police chief and that Travis Griffith and Mike Hernandez are the two candidates having received the highest and second highest number of votes cast for police chief the resolution and the council meeting packet includes a prepared tabulation of votes for each candidate by Precinct and total as required by EC 67.4 I need a motion to adopt the resolution ution canvasing the returns Some Mo Some Mo by Harry second by Lucy

[0:02:05] any public comment concerning the um previous uh information that was read seeing none we will take a vote all those in favor say I I I the motion passes four to zero I mean four five five of us to zero Item B is consider resolution ordering a runoff election to be held on June 15th 2024 for the purpose of electing a chief of police Heather would you like to go ahead and make comment um yes so the runoff election will be held on Saturday June 15th election hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 700 p.m. um it will be the standard locations that are around the city but those will be published in the paper in the next uh couple weeks before early voting starts early voting will be June 3rd through June 7th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and June 10th and June 11th from 7:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. and all early roading can be done at the EDB Keys building at 1113 West board there on the first floor okay um I whoops sorry I will sign the Secretary of State's C canvas certification immediately following this meeting this completes the canvas of May 4th 2024 general election so with that may I have a motion for adjournment by Karen a motion ma'am yes uh we need a motion in a second ordering that runoff election okay so Item B which is consider the resolution ordering runoff election to be held on June 15 2024 for the purpose of electing a chief of police may I have that motion there's a motion and a second correct thank you and a vote all in favor I I motion passes 5
