San Angelo City Council Special meeting 3-2-17

[0:00:00] 831 on the second day of March 2017 and I will call this special meeting of the City Council to order our special agenda this morning will be aid considered receiving the resignation from councilmember Richardson baby February's of 25 of 2017 and B we will consider appointing a representative for single-member district one city council member in accordance with section 14 of the city charter and number three is adjournment we can take that one first [Music] we do need to accept the resignation ideas I filled in handy a letter of resignation of last saturday i did in turn hand that to you Bryan was everything in order on this on the letter it is it is for people he said he'd resigned and he gave a date and he signed it so i suppose what we need is the motion from council to accept the resignation is this next thing in order yes sir i will ask for a motion to accept do we need to read that do we need to recognize read resignation into the record okay i'll move to accept the resignation of mr. [0:02:06] put a 60 on that one I consider appointing a representative for single district on council and according to the section 14 to the city charter this I understand this moot point now it is the Texas Constitution has a provision that kind of overrides that when we move from two to four year terms we are now under this provision inside the Texas Constitution that remount allows to appoint somebody over 12 months of a remaining term so we will need to go forward with or during an election and if it's good with the council and I just need direction I'm going to prepare that order for tuesday for the council meeting on the 7th and we'll go ahead and call for that we will start the filing period on the 6th i will post that notice today so we can start as early as possible on the filing period will have the application everything on the website and it'll be available to anybody who wants a hard copy as well so we can start the filing even before we give the official yet okay to go with it yes sir we can start the following period and it will run through the 27th March 27th at 5pm will draw for the order of the names of who sign up at 501 that day and we'll get it turned into tom green county elections office so they can get to work on the ballot and the mate and still be on the election may five make six mystics okay i guess we need any action at all the list it will all be on tuesday on tuesdays agenda when we make will make the decision being to place it on the batter yes sir okay well we have gone threads are they well we will have to do we're going to have to wait now so kind of clock before we begin our strategic planning meeting so it looks like we're going 20.5 break me breakfast in eat breakfast share it may I have a motion to adjourn
